If you are having trouble starting or finishing a writing project, I invite you to sit down at a table in my virtual cafe and meet with fellow writers who are also seeking a supportive community and concrete help with their work.
Writing is an intrinsically isolated task. It can be easy to lose heart and confidence if you are also isolated by circumstances (or maybe even by choice) from people who share common goals.
If you’re like me, you gain a lot from bouncing your ideas off others and responding to their ideas. You like to encourage other writers and want encouragement for yourself. When you’re stuck, you appreciate input and suggestions.
But you don’t live in a writers’ colony. You don’t have a writer-friendly environment to go to every day. You don’t have colleagues who can meet you in a local cafe or bookstore to talk about your writing interests and goals.
That’s why the internet is so wonderful. We can meet each other in a Cafe of the Imagination, no matter where we actually live.
In my imagination, my cafe is one of those legendary Parisian cafes where writers sat for hours and talked and wrote while watching the passing scene. They were working alone but they weren’t lonely.
